The Facts: After striking out with C.J. Anderson and Chris Johnson, the team has turned to Pead, a former second-round pick with just 19 career carries. Pead agreed to a contract with the Dolphins Thursday, a league source tells the Miami Herald. "I've said it time and time again, and here I'll say it again. Thank you Lord!" Pead wrote on Twitter Thursday afternoon.
Diehards Line:
Pead does not come to Miami without question marks. He served a suspension in 2013 for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, and then tore his ACL the following year. Pead spent three seasons with the Rams and had a brief stint with the Steelers in 2015. The Dolphins surely view the signing as low risk, and potentially high reward. They will continue trying to upgrade at the position, either through free agency or in the draft. Ex-Texans star Arian Foster visited with the team Tuesday, but Dolphins VP Mike Tannenbaum suggested that a signing wasn’t imminent. The team also had former Buccaneers RB Bobby Rainey in for a visit Thursday.
