The Facts: Tolzien is scheduled to meet with the Colts Thursday and Friday. He has also drawn interest from the Bears, although a visit has not been set up there yet, according to source close to Tolzien.
Diehards Line:
The Colts, of course, have an established starter in Andrew Luck, but veteran backup Matt Hasselbeck retired this off-season and Tolzien would be able to step into that spot quickly having played that role before. Tolzien was Aaron Rodgers' backup last year and Rodgers has spoken highly about him. The Packers probably are committed to 2016 draft pick Brett Hundley as their backup in 2017 after a strong performance in training camp last year. With Hasselbeck gone, the only other quarterback on the Colts' roster is Stephen Morris, who was signed off the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad on Dec. 24. Earlier this week, the Colts released quarterback Josh Freeman, who started one game last year when Luck was injured. Tolzien, meanwhile, is looking for a place where he can compete for a job, although Indianapolis and Chicago are not looking for starters.
