The Facts: Following up on the ongoing story. ... The Lions are still waiting for Johnson to decide whether he's going to retire.
Diehards Line:
Speaking on WMGC-FM in Detroit on Thursday morning, Lions president Rod Wood said he spoke to Megatron on Monday, but the receiver had not made a decision. "It's still in Calvin's camp to make a decision. I talked to him on Monday," Wood said. "Bob Quinn (Lions GM) talked to him. Calvin has not made a decision. If he wants to come back, we'd love to have him back. If he decides to retire, we're going to support that, too. He needs to decide what's right for him. The worst thing we could do is put pressure on him." Wood added that the opening of free agency on March 9 is not a deadline for Johnson's decision -- even if it could open more cap space for the team. The Lions' response has been a similar refrain since Johnson released a statement in January stating that he was mulling retirement. As NFL.com notes, while signs point to the 30-year-old receiver calling it a career due to a general wear and tear, Megatron apparently still hasn't made his final decision.
