The Facts: Cooper entered December with 58 catches and 851 yards, which left him on pace for 79 catches and more than 1,200 yards if he kept his pace up through the final five games of the season. Cooper's pace slowed in the final month, though. A foot injury may have contributed to the slowed production in the final weeks. During an appearance on Sirius XM NFL Radio with Alex Marvez and Mark Dominik, Raiders General Manager Reggie McKenzie said that the team considered "shutting down" Cooper in the final month of the season because of his foot.
Diehards Line:
As PFT notes, Cooper was shut out against the Broncos in Week 14 and had four catches for 30 yards in the final two weeks of the season, leaving him as the first Raiders rookie with a 1,000-yard receiving season by a much smaller margin. But McKenzie was impressed with the way Cooper toughed out the injury, which wasn’t enough to keep the rookie from making the trip to Hawaii for this weekend’s Pro Bowl. We'll have an eye on Cooper's progress in coming weeks.
