The Facts: Healthy now, Bell hinted last week that he's primed for a bounce-back 2016. "As far as my health, this is the best off-season I've had since going into my third year (in 2012)," Bell said. "Going into my third year, I had a pretty good season. I feel probably just as good now as I felt then. So I really have an off-season where I can train the way that I want to train and get after it."
Diehards Line:
Not exactly the best of timing. Bell spent last offseason rehabbing from surgery. He had two procedures in January to clean up tendinitis in his knee and Achilles tendon and a third in March, to repair a nagging ankle injury. By the time he got on the field in August, Bell looked and felt like a shell of the back who led the Lions in rushing in 2014. He finished as the Lions’ second-leading rusher this season, despite being held to just 311 yards on 90 carries. He lost his starting job to rookie Ameer Abdullah midway through the season and, with Theo Riddick and Zach Zenner both expected back -- not to mention his $3.5-million salary cap hit -- Bell's role for 2016 is uncertain no matter how healthy he is. Bell turns 30 in August.
