The Facts: One of the most prolific wide receivers of his generation, the 37-year-old Wayne told Mike Chappell of CBS4 Indianapolis that 2015 will be his last season in the NFL. "I think so, bro, yeah," Wayne said Friday in a phone interview with Chappell when asked if he'll retire. "Yeah, I'm done. ... It was fun, but it's time. It's just time."
Diehards Line:
As NFL.com suggested, this news doesn't come as a surprise. After limping through his final season with the Colts in 2014 with lingering triceps, knee and elbow injuries, Wayne was signed by the Patriots in the preseason and spent two weeks at their training camp in Foxboro. After two weeks, Wayne asked for and was granted his release from the team. Wayne's 14,345 receiving yards are the eighth-most in NFL history, just 235 behind former teammate Marvin Harrison. As a six-time Pro Bowl selection with impressive career numbers, he has strong Hall of Fame credentials.
