The Facts: Following up on the ongoing story. ... Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that the Bears are discussing the possible addition of Ball.
Diehards Line:
The Bears don’t think that they’re going to lose running back Matt Forte for the rest of the season because of the knee injury he suffered against the Vikings on Sunday, but they are still reportedly looking at an addition at the position. Ball was a second-round pick of the Broncos in 2013 and looked set to take over the starting job in Denver last year before injuries limited him to five games. Ball was waived in September as the Broncos set their initial 53-man roster. Ball’s two years with the Broncos came when John Fox was the team’s head coach and Adam Gase was their offensive coordinator. Both men are now with the Bears, which would likely make it easier for Ball to hit the ground running with a new team halfway through the season. Jeremy Langford got the work at tailback after Forte’s injury and will likely be in the mix even if Ball should come to Chicago.
