Shorts fumbled after a catch and landed awkwardly on his left arm, and then was shoved backward while he was already on the ground and the football was out. The fumble was returned 84 yards for a touchdown for the final margin. Shorts’ left arm was in a sling after the game. Shorts caught six passes for 87 yards and a touchdown, providing one of the few bright spots in the loss. Earlier in the game, starting wide receiver Nate Washington injured his hamstring and didn’t return. After the game, Washington wasn’t limping.
