The Facts: The Jaguars’ leading rusher last year has a message to those who want the team to use a high draft pick on a running back: Don’t forget about him. “I think I should be a No. 1 guy,” Robinson said. “That’s how I have to look at it. But I have to show them that. Words don’t mean anything. It’s all about showing them.”
Diehards Line:
What Robinson showed in 2014 was a productive flash that kept him in the starting lineup from Game 7 until he sustained a broken foot in mid-December. He ended with a team-high 582 rushing yards, up from 66 as a seldom-used rookie. As GM Dave Caldwell finalizes a draft board that includes a deep running back class, he has a similar message about Robinson. “I wouldn’t forget about him,” Caldwell said. That said, the Jaguars rushing attack needs some help. As the Times-Union notes, they’ve ranked 30th, 31st and 21st in the three years since Maurice Jones-Drew won the rushing title. They’ve ranked 24th, 31st and sixth in yards per carry during that stretch. (The 2014 yards per carry average was skewed by quarterback Blake Bortles, who averaged 7.5 yards on 56 rushes). We'll see how much confidence they have in Robinson once the draft begins.
