The Facts: GM Dennis Hickey said the Dolphins haven’t ruled out bringing back Moreno, who tore his ACL last year and has a history of knee injuries. “His rehab is going well,” Hickey said. “We’re always keeping our options open.”
Diehards Line:
Lamar Miller is returning as Miami’s starting running back, but HC Joe Philbin said he would consider complementing him with a power running back. The Dolphins tried it last year with Moreno, but injuries limited him to one complete game. “I’m certainly not opposed to a quote-unquote power running back, but he has to fit overall with the team and be able to contribute in different ways as well,” Philbin said. “He has to do something on special teams, help us in other areas. He has to be able to pass protect. He has to be a viable threat in the passing game.” The Dolphins have Damien Williams, who had 36 carries as an undrafted rookie last year. Hickey said he likes Williams but the team welcomes competition. We'll see if that includes Moreno.
