The Facts: According to ESPN.com's Field Yates, the Patriots have signed former Cadet.
Diehards Line:Cadet wasn’t tendered as a restricted free agent, as the Saints were looking to cut their payroll. The Patriots are trying to fill the void left in their backfield by the departure of receiving back Shane Vereen. As Profootballtalk.com notes, Cadet, the former Appalachian State quarterback/wide receiver isn’t much of a rushing threat, but he’s an effective enough pass-catcher out of the backfield. He had 38 catches for the Saints last year, and that’s clearly something the Patriots will be needing.
