The Facts: Hill emerged Saturday as a target in free agency for the Vikings. A source told the Pioneer Press that a Vikings official reached out to a representative of Hill's on the first day that team officials could indicate interest with free agents. Players can't sign contracts until free agency starts Tuesday.

Minnesota is looking for a backup quarterback behind Teddy Bridgewater after agreeing to trade Matt Cassel to Buffalo in a deal that will be finalized Tuesday. Hill played for the Vikings from 2002-05 and was with San Francisco in 2006 when current Vikings OC Norv Turner held that role with the 49ers. Hill, 35, started eight games for St. Louis last season, including the regular-season opener against Minnesota. Hill completed 145 of 229 passes on the season for 1,657 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. Hill has started 34 games in his NFL career. His best season came with Detroit in 2010, when he started 10 games and threw for 16 touchdowns and 2,686 yards.
