The Facts: Jones-Drew ran the ball 43 times for 96 yards in 12 games for Oakland and those anemic results continued the downward trend he displayed with the Jaguars during the 2013 season. After that season, there were plenty of doubts that Jones-Drew had anything left but the back said Tuesday that he feels ready for another chance to show that there’s still gas in the tank. “My body feels good and wish I played more. I want to stay in Oakland and turn this thing around,” Jones-Drew said on SiriusXM NFL Radio.
Diehards Line:
Jones-Drew is set to make up to $2.5 million next season, but none of the money is guaranteed and it seems safe to say that he wouldn’t be back at that number even if he’d been able to crack 100 rushing yards for the entire season. As PFT suggests, Latavius Murray is the short-term future at the position for the Raiders and you could find multiple other options to go with him for what Jones-Drew is set to cost. Those options will likely have a lot less wear and tear than Jones-Drew, whose future in the NFL looks dim with his 30th birthday approaching.
