The Facts: Hill started on Sunday and played the entire first half before being replaced by Austin Davis. It was initially reported as a calf injury, but the Rams later clarified that it was a quad injury that he suffered near the end of the first half. After the game, coach Jeff Fisher said that the injury was the reason why Hill was taken out and that he’d undergo further evaluation on Monday.
Diehards Line:
Hill completed 8-of-13 passes in the first half, but failed to move the team and threw a bad interception into double coverage to help the Vikings to their first touchdown. Davis wasn’t much better, throwing an interception that was returned for a touchdown as the Vikings turned a 13-0 halftime lead into a 34-6 blowout victory. Davis had better superficial numbers, although some of that was due to the nature of playing from behind in a rout and his efforts still only resulted in six points. As PFT suggests, that doesn’t make for an easy choice about a quarterback going forward, one that could also include consideration for the recently acquired Case Keenum given how wrong everything went on Sunday.
