The Facts: The handwriting was on the wall when he didn’t play on Saturday night. It’s now been reduced to a pink slip. Per a league source, the Texans have dumped Brown.
Diehards Line:
A fourth-round pick of the Giants in 2009, he has bounced around the league, with four different teams in 2010 (Broncos, Colts, Panthers, Washington). He found a home with the team that drafted him in 2011, spending three years in New York. Brown signed a one-year, $645,000 contract with the Texans in the offseason, after a pair of 100-yard games for the Giants last season. His breakout game came on a Thursday night in 2012, when he gained 113 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns against the Panthers. The Texans now have Jonathan Grimes, Alfred Blue and Dennis Johnson behind Arian Foster. The team worked out veteran free agents Ronnie Brown, Brian Leonard and William Powell earlier today.
