The Facts: The Saints remain high on Arrington, who will be given the first shot to replace the just departed Robert Meachem. Rookie sensation Joe Morgan is also a possibility.
Diehards Line:As Times-Picayune staffer Jeff Duncan noted, Meachem is a solid receiver and he certainly had his moments, but he's far from irreplaceable. After all, five players caught more passes than his 40 receptions last season. There's no way the Saints could afford to match the four-year, $25.9 million deal he signed with the Chargers. That's starter money. Meachem started only 25 games in five seasons. He has been their third-best wide receiver for most of his career. ... The 6-3, 192-pound Arrington has been flying under the radar in New Orleans for some time. If nothing else, he knows the scheme well and should be more than capable of stepping in to fill that role
