The Facts: The Raiders plan to release tight end Kevin Boss, who signed a four-year, $16 million deal last summer, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Boss' deal includes $6 million guaranteed. He was due $4 million in 2011 and the Raiders still owe Boss $2 million guaranteed in 2012, according to the source.
Diehards Line:Boss played in 14 games for Oakland in 2011, but had only 28 receptions for 368 yards and three touchdowns, all of which were the lowest of his career since his rookie season. Boss was a fifth-round pick by the New York Giants in 2007. ... Worth noting: Boss' former team, the Giants, currently have a serious need at tight end with Travis Beckum and Jake Ballard both recovering from torn ACLs suffered in the team's Super Bowl win.
