The Facts: Faulk hasn't made up his mind about retirement, and the Patriots veteran isn't sure when he will make his life-altering decision. But the running back does know one thing. When Faulk does decide that he's laced up his cleats for the final time, he'd like to remain with the only organization he's known since he was drafted out of LSU in 1999. "Of course, I'd like to be involved in the New England Patriots; let's keep it at that," Faulk said Tuesday.
Diehards Line:As Herald staffer Ian Rapoport notes, Faulk had a trying season, as the 35-year-old carried just 17 times for 57 yards, playing in seven games after recovering from an ACL tear the previous year. In a difficult reality for what may have been his last game, Faulk was inactive for the Super Bowl XLVI loss to the New York Giants. He described this offseason as "different" because of the uncertainty of his future. The longest-tenured Patriot also added that the retirement decision isn't entirely up to him, an indication that he's waiting to learn if HC Bill Belichick wants him to return. If he does not return, the locker room leader is open to coaching. "I'm a football guy, so that's definitely one of the things that goes on," Faulk said. "But I don't want to say that right now, and then something happens. I'm living the life right now."
