The Facts: Following up on an item in this week's Team Notes. ... The Lions got a momentary scare Wednesday when Smith and TE Tony Scheffler collided unsuspectingly while running pass routes in opposite directions at practice. But some general collision-related soreness aside, Smith said he's 100 percent healthy on Thursday after being limited by a high ankle sprain the final month of the season.
Diehards Line:Smith, who has battled injuries most of his career, took the brunt of Wednesday's blow and lay on the ground momentarily before limping to the sideline with the help of trainers. Both players finished practice, and only Smith appeared on the injury report with previous ankle and knee injuries. "I'm glad there's not some new rule that you're not allowed to wear helmets ... because we might have a couple broken jaws that we're dealing with right now," HC Jim Schwartz said. As Free Press staffer Dave Birkett suggests, Smith could be a key factor in Saturday's playoff rematch. The Saints finished 13-3 and lost two games they shouldn't have to the Rams and Buccaneers when Steven Jackson and Earnest Graham went over 100 yards rushing.
