The Facts: The Colts have re-signed Orlovsky, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Orlovsky was waived Sept. 3 after spending the preseason with the team. There was no announcement from the team and it wasn’t immediately known how the team made room on the active roster for Orlovsky.
Diehards Line:Orlovsky, 28, has appeared in 13 games with Detroit and Houston, and started seven games for the Lions in 2008. He lost all seven of his starts as Detroit would finish 0-16. In his 13 appearances, Orlovsky completed 150-of-272 passes for 1,679 yards with eight touchdowns and eight interceptions. During the Colts’ preseason, he completed 25-of-54 passes for 386 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. Colts also worked out veteran Brodie Croyle today before opting for a quarterback with experience in their system. The need to add another QB to the roster became more pressing when starter Kerry Collins was sidelined during the fourth quarter of Sunday night's loss to Pittsburgh with concussion-like symptoms. He was replaced by Curtis Painter, the only other healthy quarterback on the roster.
