The Facts: Last week, it was Carlos Rogers who said that he would like to play against the Redskins twice a year. Now Portis has said that wants to do the same. The Redskins’ second-leading all-time rusher appeared on Late Hits on Sirius XM radio with Brian McGovern and Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew on Tuesday. In response to a question from McGovern, Portis, who was released by the Redskins earlier this year, said that he would like to play for the Giants.
Diehards Line:“To go to the Giants and get to play the Redskins twice a year after them feeling I wasn’t capable any more, I think that would be outstanding,” he said. He mentioned the Giants’ strong offensive line, run-oriented style and the presence of an established QB in Eli Manning as other reasons why he would like to pay. Portis also mentioned the possibility of playing for another one of the Redskins’ division rivals. In discussing his preference to play with “a QB who had the opportunity to really run his system” he listed Michael Vick of the Eagles along with Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and others. ... We'd advise Fantasy Football owners not to get too excited about Portis' chances of landing with his teams of choice just yet. Still, a healthy Portis might be capable of making a limited contribution for a needy team this fall. It's worth watching.
