The Facts: The St. Louis Rams' chief contract negotiator says a deal is not imminent with Westbrook according to the Associated Press. Kevin Demoff, vice president of football operations, said before Saturday night's preseason opener that he had not spoken to Westbrook's agent for several days.
Diehards Line:ESPN's John Clayton began reporting earlier today that Westbrook was likely to sign with the Rams by Monday. Clayton's report came after fellow ESPN insider Chris Mortensen reported Westbrook was expected to decide on a new team by Monday. ... But NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora disputed Clayton's report saying Westbrook hasn't decided on a team. If we believe Demoff, La Canfora's reporting might be more accurate. We will, of course, continue to watch for more and report back further when a decision is reached. Remember: In addition to the Rams, the Redskins and Broncos have expressed interest in Westbrook.
