The Facts: Slaton told John McClain of the Houston Chronicle Sunday that he's "100 percent and ready to go" after off-season neck surgery.
Diehards Line:Texans coaches plan to take it easy on Slaton until training camp begins. But the fact he'll be on the field when OTAs begin today is a good sign. As PFT reminded readers this morning, the third-year running back has dropped 15 pounds off his playing weight from 2009, when he looked sluggish at the beginning of the year. Slaton plans to play closer to 200 pounds, where he was as a rookie when he ranked fifth in the NFL with over 1,600 yards from scrimmage. PFT went on to suggest that if he can prove he's healthy again, the Texans could have a dynamic combination in the backfield with Slaton and second round pick Ben Tate.
