The Facts: From franchise player last year to tendered player this year: Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Titans tendered Scaife at the first-round tender level of $4,908,000.
Diehards Line:Tendering Scaife at this level gives the Titans a number of options. One of the options the Titans would still have at their disposal regarding the veteran tight end is to entertain trade offers for him. And as the Sports Xchange notes, Tennessee has other options at the position with third-round 2009 pick Jared Cook looking to get more playing time as the receiving TE. The Titans also have a blocking TE in Craig Stevens and could re-sign veteran Alge Crumpler, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent on March 5. If nothing else, tendering Scaife, who caught 45 passes for 440 yards last season, gives the Titans some leverage in that they can deal him, extend his deal or simply let him play out this season at the high dollar figure and walk away next year.
