But NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reports that possibility does not seem great at this time and barring a reworked deal, Jones would become a free agent when the roster bonus is not picked up. Despite a productive 2009 season, the 31-year-old Jones has reached the point where age and wear and tear will preclude him from getting a huge contract. But La Canfora notes that in a weak free-agent class he could land a short-term deal with incentives.
