The Facts: The Jets have released Franks. Franks, a 10-year veteran, caught six passes for 47 yards in eight games (four starts) during the 2008 season.
Diehards Line:Couple Franks' release with that of fellow veteran Chris Baker earlier this year, and it's not hard to figure out the new coaching staff would like to keep second-year man Dustin Keller on the field regardless of down. Keller isn't in the same league as either Baker or Franks in terms of blocking, but he is clearly the team's future at tight end.
