The Facts: The player who continues to benefit the longer Brandon Marshall avoids team activities is Gaffney. He has been the starter opposite Eddie Royal during mini-camps, and knows the offense well from his New England days.
Diehards Line:Even if Marshall (those unaware of his issues can find more here) plays with Denver this season, Gaffney could be the third receiver, which has a lot of value in the offense. That's probably not great news for Brandon Stokley fans -- but the diminutive veteran receiver could still carve out a role under new HC Josh McDaniels. As Gazette staffer Frank Schwab notes, Stokley’s ability and McDaniels’ desire to spread the field could at least secure the veteran's roster spot. Gaffney, meanwhile, was plenty productive when given the opportunity in New England.
