The Facts: Culpepper, talking for the first time since the team drafted Matthew Stafford, didn't say much. Culpepper said he's gotten to know Stafford and likes him and Culpepper also believes the coaching staff will give him a fair shot to start. "(Stafford's) played a lot of football and he's a hard worker," Culpepper said. "He's going to be a great player in this league and I wish him the best in everything he does in his career."
Diehards Line:As noted in last weekend's Fantasy Notebook, those who follow the team closely believe Stafford has already gone far in terms of convincing coaches he's ready to make a legitimate run at the starting job. We still think Culpepper would be the wiser choice -- if for no other reason than a tough early schedule. But make no mistake about it: The competition is on. ... For what it's worth, Culpepper was asked who had the stronger arm and he said: "I don't know, we haven't tested it. But I know I can throw it pretty far and he can throw it pretty far." In other words, arms race on!
