The Facts: Vikcing HC Brad Childress expressed no real concerns today about Peterson's desire to gain weight but did say he doesn't think the Pro Bowl RB is going to actually add 12 pounds to his frame. "I'm thinking he's probably not going to get to 230, nor does he want to be at 230," Childress said. "I would have no trouble telling him that or you."
Diehards Line:Peterson reiterated to reporters on Tuesday night that he would like to enter next season weighing as much as 230 pounds, which would be a 12-pound weight gain. As previously noted, Peterson first talked of putting on 7 to 12 pounds at the Pro Bowl because he feels he could better withstand the punishment he endures over the course of a season if he was bigger. Childress said he would encourage Peterson to play "at whatever weight he can and have great stamina and be able to finish and be able to still have the successes he's had." Childress feels that Peterson will "add good weight as he goes through his career" but added, "I think just adding weight to say I'm going to get 10 pounds heavier probably doesn't have a lot of merit to it."
