The Facts: Following up on an ongoing story. ... The battle over whether to bring back Walker for a second season or cut ties with the mercurial wide receiver rages on in the Raiders front office. According to Raiderbeat.com's Paul Wexler, Walker’s situation has little to do with the salary cap and everything to do with whether he has anything left to offer.
Diehards Line:Walker signed a huge free-agent contract with the Raiders last March that included $17 million guaranteed. He received $12 million in base salary and signing bonus last season and is due a $5 million roster bonus next week. But Wexler contends the issue centers on whether HC Tom Cable and managing general partner Al Davis view Walker as someone who still has enough left to contribute on a consistent basis. Hard to imagine why anybody would believe that's the case, but we'll know more soon. Stay tuned.
