The Facts: In an interview with Sirius NFL Radio's Alex Marvez and Ross Tucker, former Lions WR Mike Furrey said the Lions told him prior to his release that Daunte Culpepper would be their starter in 2009.
Diehards Line:Culpepper, who came out of retirement to sign with the Lions at midseason, didn't play particularly well -- he had four touchdown passes and six interceptions, fumbled five times (losing one) and lost all five of his starts. In his defense, however, Culpepper was rushed into the starting lineup and many observers question whether he was physically or mentally prepared to succeed. ... For what it's worth, Culpepper is due a $2.5 million roster bonus on Feb. 27 and that will trigger a $2.5 million salary for the upcoming season.
