The Facts: The Detroit Lions on Wednesday released Furrey. Furrey’s release comes three seasons after a breakthrough campaign in which he caught 98 passes for 1,086 yards and six touchdowns.
Diehards Line:After his huge 2006 season, Furrey signed a three-year contract extension. However, he showed the new deal was a mistake as he hauled in 79 passes for 845 yards and one score over the last two seasons. Furrey had just 18 receptions for 181 yards this past season, missing the final seven games with a concussion as the Lions became the first 0-16 team in NFL history.
