Gurley Has Come A Long Way This Season; Today Will Be A Major Test
This time last year, Todd Gurley was almost a month removed from having his torn ACL repaired. A year later, Gurley was named to his first Pro Bowl.

As ESPN.com's Nick Wagoner suggested this week, that Gurley has been able to come back and have so much success so fast bodes well for what figures to be a very bright future in the NFL.

"I think that speaks volumes of him," head coach Jeff Fisher said. "His teammates are also to be recognized for that. The offensive linemen and then of course our training staff to get him back and put him in that position. This will be the first of many for him, so I'm really happy for him."

Clearly Gurley earned the selection.

He is third in the NFL in rushing yards (1,023) and his nine touchdowns are tied for third most in the NFL. He ranks second in the NFL with 11 runs of 20-plus yards and his seven 30-plus yard runs lead the league. His rushing total is the third highest by a rookie in franchise history and he's the first Rams rookie to rush for 1,000 or more yards since Jerome Bettis in 1993.

Along the way, Gurley became the first rookie in NFL history to rush for 125 or more yards in four consecutive games and his 566 yards in his first four starts is also a league record for the Super Bowl era.

That's quite a bit of production for a player who didn't play in a game until Week 3 or make his first start until Week 4.

"I didn't expect to do this well, but at the end of the day, it didn't really surprise me," Gurley said. "I put in the hard work and my teammates helped me come back and do a great a job."

In earning the Pro Bowl nod, Gurley became the first Rams offensive player to land a spot since running back Steven Jackson in 2010. He's also one of just seven Rams rookies to get a bid in the last 53 years, joining such luminaries as Aaron Donald, Bettis, Eric Dickerson, Frank Corral, Isaiah Robertson and Merlin Olsen.

If Gurley can finish strong, he can put himself in position for another postseason honor: The offensive rookie of the year award. Many believe Gurley is the frontrunner since he leads all rookies in rushing yards, scrimmage yards, 100-yard games and rushing touchdowns.

That won't be easy.

The Seahawks didn't see Gurley in the season opener as he didn't make his debut until Week 3. Seattle has not allowed a 100-yard rusher this season and are ranked third in the league in rushing defense. It's hard to run on the Seahawks, but the Rams will try in an effort to control the clock.

In other words, we're all about to see Gurley face a major test.
