Player Capsule:
Young caught 48 passes for 607 yards and six touchdowns in 2011, the fourth-most touchdowns by a Lions rookie receiver in franchise history. He suffered a setback during the offseason when he was banished from the team for two weeks after sucker punching safety Louis Delmas during a voluntary workout. Young, no stranger to off-field issues, fell on his sword and apologized to his teammates. When he returned to the team, coach Jim Schwartz said Young was making big plays in every practice and “probably looked the best I’ve ever seen him look.” In a high-powered offense and with defenses forced to roll coverage toward Calvin Johnson, Young has a good opportunity to build on his rookie numbers.
