The Facts: Forget everything you've heard or read about the Dallas Cowboys being interested in trading for the Dolphins' No. 1 draft pick. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, speaking exclusively to the Post, shot down the theory that has been a popular topic on message boards and sports call-in shows. "We haven't talked about that at all," Jones said Saturday afternoon at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Diehards Line:As Post staffer Tim Graham suggests, a deal sounded plausible because the Cowboys have the assets to pull it off, and Jones is said to covet Arkansas RB Darren McFadden. Jones is an Arkansas alum and one of the Razorbacks' most passionate boosters. The Cowboys are the only team with multiple picks in the first round. They hold the 22nd and 28th selections. But Jones believes it would be more prudent to choose twice at the back of the first round than to gamble $30 million or so in guaranteed salary that goes with the top pick. "That's a high-value, high-cost pick there," Jones said.
