The Facts: The Detroit Lions have hosted DeMarco Murray on a free-agent visit. They've hosted Jonathan Stewart too. And Frank Gore. On Friday, they're expected to host LeGarrette Blount and Mike Davis. It's pretty clear. GM Bob Quinn wants to sign a veteran running back. He probably wants to draft one too, given how many good ones there are out there. But so far, the only move he's pulled the trigger on is re-signing Zenner.
Diehards Line:
Detroit announced the deal on Friday morning. Terms were not disclosed. Zenner originally joined the franchise as an undrafted rookie out of South Dakota State in 2015. He had long odds of making the team, like most UDFAs, but impressed coaches with his physicality and professionalism. And once he led the league in rushing during the preseason, the decision to keep him became a no-brainer. In his three years with the club, he's rushed 119 times for 420 yards and five touchdowns. As MLive.com's Kyle Meinke notes, Zenner is a good special teams player too, which will likely be his primary job going forward.
