The Facts: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Jets are pleased with the way Hackenberg has looked in OTAs.
Diehards Line:
Schefter attributes it to the "The Jeremy Bates effect." Bates is the team's new QBs coach. The Jets are planning a three-man competition for their starting quarterback job and as Profootballtalk.com recently suggested, watching a battle between Josh McCown, Bryce Petty and Hackenberg unfold probably isn't the sort of thing most people would describe as thrilling. Nonethless, Hackenberg said the competition will be "really exciting" and he felt good about where he was at as things start ramping up in May. Apparently coaches agree. We'll continue to watch the competition going forward.
