The Facts: With Nick Foles joining the Chiefs, speculation about who the Cowboys will turn to at backup quarterback with Kellen Moore recovering from a broken ankle has turned to a possible trade for McCown. On Thursday, McCown was asked about that speculation at Browns training camp. McCown said it has been impossible to avoid hearing about the chatter because he's from Texas and his family and friends have been calling him constantly to see if he's coming to Dallas. McCown said that his "focus is here," however.
Diehards Line:
“I’m on this team for a reason and this is where I’m at,” McCown told the Akron Beacon Journal. “Until that decision is made otherwise, I’ll be here focusing and doing everything I can do to help this team.” McCown said he has spoken to Browns brass about the trade chatter, but didn’t go into what was discussed beyond saying that he’s “on the same page” with the team. Ed Werder of ESPN reported Thursday that the Browns are “reluctant” to trade McCown, who appears set to back up Robert Griffin III if he remains in Cleveland come the start of the regular season.
