The Facts: Like last year, David Johnson will be used heavily in the passing game, often lining up as a receiver. In Sunday's practice, he caught two passes from those formations. "I think David is a little more comfortable (than Chris) in the passing game," offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin said. "I think [HC Bruce Arians) has certain things in mind with David, slotted out in formations, out of the backfield. He gives you a little different element from Chris. But running the ball, they are both even."
Diehards Line:
Chris Johnson looked plenty fast a year ago, breaking six runs of at least 20 yards over a five-game period. In doing so, he gave the Cardinals their first big-play threat out of the backfield in years. But it’s hard to accurately predict how often the elder Johnson will touch the ball this season. David Johnson is the starter, but Chris Johnson isn’t concerned about opportunities. “Everybody knows (HC Bruce Arians) knows how to get the ball in his playmakers’ hands,” Johnson said. “It’s nothing new. Last year we had the same guys and everybody got their touches so there’s really not a problem. ..." We expect David Johnson to be very busy, but grabbing Chris Johnson as a late-round flier doesn't seem like a horrible idea.
