The Facts: The Packers close their offseason program when this week's minicamp comes to an end, which means that the team's players will have five weeks on their own before the start of training camp. Teams sometimes worry about players staying out of trouble off the field during this stretch of time. HC Mike McCarthy's concern about running back Eddie Lacy is a little different. "Eddie in particular, I hope he definitely goes with the plan he used this year as opposed to last year," McCarthy said. "He's just like all of our guys. Our strength coach and nutritionist have programs for our guys. There's plans for who they're going to work with, where they're going to work."
Diehards Line:
Lacy’s weight became an issue when McCarthy said the back needed to be trimmer than he was during the 2015 season and said last month that things were moving in the right direction. Lacy worked out with trainer Tony Horton of P90X fame earlier this offseason and Horton said he’d like to work with Lacy again in the period leading into camp. That should fit with what McCarthy’s hoping to see from Lacy when the team returns to work. We'll be watching for more on that in advance of training camp.
