The Facts: The Browns are headed for summer vacation. In at least one area, new HC Hue Jackson isn't changing what he's said since March. As mandatory minicamp ended Thursday, Jackson told reporters he absolutely has not changed his mind and still isn't ready to name a starting quarterback. "Not even close," Jackson said.
Diehards Line:
As PFT's Zac Jackson notes, that means the nearly annual tradition of the Browns holding a training camp competition for the starting job will continue. Though Robert Griffin III took nearly all of the snaps with the No. 1 offense during open practices and has drawn praise from Jackson on multiple fronts, Jackson has repeatedly said he won’t name a starter until the time is right and that there’s no set timeline for such a decision. The Browns went through the spring with five quarterbacks: Griffin, last year’s starter Josh McCown, third-round rookie Cody Kessler, Connor Shaw and Austin Davis.
