The Facts: When the Broncos drafted Paxton Lynch with the No. 26 pick in the draft last week, Sanchez was hardly fazed. If anything, he viewed the addition of a rookie, and not a veteran, of a sign of confidence in him from his bosses, GM John Elway and HC Gary Kubiak. "I'm thrilled about the opportunity," Sanchez said Monday.
Diehards Line:Lynch will arrive in Denver later this week for a three-day rookie minicamp, and then the quarterback competition between Sanchez, Lynch and 2015 seventh-round pick Trevor Siemian will begin in earnest when organized team activities begin later this month. Even if the Broncos add another veteran to the mix, Sanchez is going to do everything possible to take advantage of the situation even as mentors Lynch. “If you’re confident in your ability, you have no problem helping a guy,” Sanchez said. That attitude will go far in helping Sanchez maximize his chances of being the team's opening-day starter this fall.
