The Facts: The Eagles didn't use Murray as the workhorse back that he was in Dallas, but Titans GM Jon Robinson says that things will play out differently in Tennessee. "DeMarco is a premium back in this league, and I have admired his running style from afar for a long time," Robinson said in a statement formally announcing the trade. "We are expecting him to embody all that we want to be about as a team moving forward — tough, dependable and team-first. He will be a workhorse for us and his presence in our offense will help everyone around him."
Diehards Line:
Indeed, Murray’s production and playing time in Philadelphia dropped significantly from his big 2014 season in Dallas, which led to conversations between Murray and owner Jeffrey Lurie about former HC Chip Kelly’s shortcomings. The Eagles clearly weren’t convinced that the problem was all with Kelly, however, as their optimistic words about a second season with Murray amounted to little but hot air with Wednesday’s trade sending Murray to the Titans. The Titans and Eagles will also swap fourth-round picks in the deal. Murray said in a statement that he’s willing to do anything the Titans ask, “whether it is carrying the ball 20 times, 30 times, whatever.” Those numbers would suit fantasy owners just fine.
