The Facts: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Packers are expressing interest in Forte.
Diehards Line:
As ESPN.com's Rob Demovsky wrote last month, "Forte is effective between the tackles and on the outside stretch plays. His receiving skills made him ideal for the screen game, and he doesn't need to be an every-down back anymore. The more you think you about Forte and the Packers, the more it makes some sense. ..." Remember: Eddie Lacy has already been informed he can't play at last year's weight (estimated by local observers to be in the 260-pound range during the 2015 campaign) and keep his job. He seems to be working hard on his conditioning. But veteran backup James Stark isn't a lock to return and the 30-year old Forte just might be ideally suited to handling a limited role in the kind of rotation Packers HC Mike McCarthy has preferred over the years. Forte's receiving skills would also give Aaron Rodgers another weapon in the passing attack.
