The Facts: Following up on the ongoing story. ... GM Ryan Pace said Wednesday from the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine that the team plans to keep Jeffery in Chicago, either with a long-term deal or the franchise tag. Pace said the Bears are "aggressively" negotiating with Jeffery toward a new deal.
Diehards Line:
"I sense he wants to be here," Pace said, according to the Chicago Tribune. "We're the team that drafted him. He loves the city of Chicago. He's comfortable in the O." Jeffery, 25, is easily the Bears' most dynamic player with Matt Forte heading out the door. His age and track record make him an obvious player to build around, but there had been speculation the Bears were considering letting Jeffery hit the open market when free agency begins next month. Pace made it clear on Wednesday that won't be the case.
