The Facts: If Manning decides to retire after leading the Broncos to victory in Super Bowl 50 -- and there's reason to believe he will, it apparently won't have trouble finding work. According to the Sporting News' Michael McCarthy, the NFL Network would be first in line if the veteran QB decides to move into the world of television.
Diehards Line:
McCarthy went on to point out that Manning's once-sterling reputation has taken a beating this week as the media re-examined a 20-year old training room incident at the University of Tennessee between the then 19-year old QB and athletic trainer Jamie Naughright, which comes on top of Al Jazeera America's controversial report linking his wife Ashley Manning to HGH. Still, if the 39-year old retires from the NFL, then the $12 billion league's own 24-7 channel wants to talk deal. "NFL Network is always interested in former players who are looking to enter the media business when they step away from the game. Should that be the decision Peyton makes this offseason, I'm sure we'll reach out to him," spokesman Alex Riethmiller said in a statement to Sporting News. ... For what it's worth, FOX, ESPN and NBC did not comment regarding potential interest in Manning. Nor is it clear Manning is interested in television work. Whatever the case, the first step is his retirement. We're still awaiting that.
