The Facts: Hurns advised his Twitter followers that he's having surgery today. He needs it to repair a sports hernia.
Diehards Line:
According to the Florida Times-Union, Hurns' expected recovery time is six-to-eight weeks. "I'm actually looking forward to getting the surgery," he last week. "It's been very tough for me. ... It's been a long season. Fighting through that, it's been a lot to deal with. But at the end of the day, I was out there with my teammates." The injury persisted for much of the season and caused Hurns to make multiple medical visits in Philadelphia, but it didn't slow him on the field. Hurns finished his second season with a career-high 64 catches for 1,031 yards and 10 touchdowns. He is the youngest undrafted receiver since 1970 to have that many receiving yards and touchdowns in a season. Hurns plans to do much of his rehabilitation work in Jacksonville once the surgery is completed. Several of the team's top offensive skill players stayed around town to work together for part of last offseason and plan to do so once again. Hurns said he will be in that group once he is fully healthy. "Just building that chemistry with each other [is important]," Hurns said. "Just competing with each other in the weight room, outside catching passes, still watching film and things like that just building chemistry."
