The Facts: HC Bruce Arians said Friday he hasn't seen an injury like Floyd's three dislocated fingers in his 40 years of coaching. Because of its uniqueness, Arians couldn't put a timetable on the wide receiver's return. "We don't really know how long it'll take," Arians said Friday. "I've never seen it before. All these fingers are out of place."
Diehards Line:
Arians said Floyd fell on the football during Wednesday's practice, severely bending three fingers backward. Floyd had surgery Thursday and now has a cast on his left hand. ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that Floyd could be back in three to four weeks, which would have Floyd ready for Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints. Arians, though, was noncommittal to that prognosis. When he was asked if Week 1 is a realistic goal, Arians said "evidently," but reiterated the team doesn't know how long it will take for their second receiver to recover. The Cardinals will rely on Larry Fitzgerald and John Brown as their top receivers while Floyd is out of the lineup. Jaron Brown, Brittan Golden, Ryan Spadola and fifth-round pick J.J. Nelson are some of the other receivers who will see a bump in playing time to help fill in for Floyd, who had 47 catches for 841 yards and six touchdowns last season.
