The Facts: The Packers are adding a third quarterback. The club has signed Blanchard, a former Panthers and Bears passer, agent Paul Sheehy said on Twitter on Wednesday.
Diehards Line:
The 26-year-old Blanchard spent most of the 2014 season on injured reserve with Carolina after suffering a concussion in the summer. He was released with an injury settlement in December. Previously, he had stints on Carolina’s practice squad in 2013 and Chicago’s practice squad in 2012. Blanchard figures to get reps in the Packers’ offseason workouts. His chances of making the roster could well be tied to whether the team drafts a quarterback to groom behind starter Aaron Rodgers and top backup Scott Tolzien.
