The Facts: Following up on the ongoing story. ... Ridley is headed to Washington for a visit. The former Patriots running back, who has also spent time with the Dolphins and Jets on visits this offseason, will sit down with Redskins coach Jay Gruden on Tuesday, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports, per a source informed of Ridley's plans.
Diehards Line:
As NFL.com suggests, Ridley is one of the best two running backs left on the free agent market and before his injury issues in 2014 -- he tore his ACL in October -- he would have been close to headlining the class. At 26, the former third-round pick does not come without risk. He was famously benched by Bill Belichick amid a fumbling spree in 2013 which eventually caused him to lose his gig to LeGarrette Blount. His production, though, his undeniable. Ridley has a career yards per touch average over four and has two seasons with seven or more touchdowns under his belt. The Redskins already have a lead back in Alfred Morris (one who also isn't known for his receiving ability), but Ridley's visit indicates they're at least interested in adding at the position.
